EAT SMART Teen Study

Effects of Application-based Eating Awareness Training on Disordered Eating in Youth With Obesity: The EAT SMART Teen Study

Source: ClinicalTrials.gov · Last updated 20 Oct 2026

Brief summary (registry, in English)

The goal of this controlled trial is to assess the feasability and efficacy of a 12-week mindfulness-based intervention (MBI) in adolescents living with obesity. The study will include youth ages 12 to 17 who are waitlisted at the Centre for Healthy Active Living (CHAL) at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO). We hypothesize that the MB-EAT Teen intervention will demonstrate good feasibility and usability among adolescents living with obesity. We also expect that, compared with the EAT SMART Teen psychoeducation program, MB-EAT Teen may lead to greater improvements in disordered eating behaviours, food-related self-regulation, mindfulness, emotional well-being, body image, and health-related quality of life.
