Multimodal Imaging Analysis in Post-Stroke Thalamic Pain: A Retrospective Study
Retrospective Analysis of Multimodal Imaging (CT, MRI, and Other Imaging Modalities), Clinical Characteristics, and Laboratory Findings in Patients With Post-Stroke Thalamic Pain (September 2023 - September 2026)
Source: ClinicalTrials.gov · Last updated 19 Oct 2026
Brief summary (registry, in English)
The goal of this retrospective observational study is to analyze multimodal imaging (including CT, MRI, and other imaging modalities), clinical characteristics, and laboratory findings from patients with post-stroke thalamic pain who were treated at Aerospace Center Hospital between September 2023 and September 2026. The main questions this study aims to answer are: What are the structural and functional brain imaging features (derived from CT, T1, DTI, and resting-state fMRI) that distinguish patients with different pain severity levels? What are the metabolic profiles (measured by MRS) in pain-related brain regions (thalamus, anterior cingulate cortex, insula) in these patients? Are there correlations between imaging biomarkers, clinical pain scores, and laboratory parameters? Researchers will review and analyze existing medical records, imaging data (including CT and MRI scans), and laboratory test results from routine clinical care. All data have already been collected as part of standard patient care. No additional interventions, tests, or patient visits are required for this study. This is a purely retrospective data analysis study.

Who cannot take part
Copied verbatim from ClinicalTrials.gov and grouped by topic. Only the trial team decides who can take part.
Other illness
- Presence of other neurological disorders that may confound imaging analysis (e.g., multiple sclerosis, brain tumor, Parkinson's disease).
- Severe cognitive impairment preventing reliable pain assessment.
- Stroke not localized to the thalamus (e.g., cortical stroke, brainstem stroke).
Other
- Incomplete medical records or missing key clinical data.
- Motion artifacts or poor image quality on CT or MRI preventing quantitative analysis.
Who the study is looking for
- Diagnosis of post-stroke thalamic pain (stroke localized to the thalamus).
- Age 18-80 years at the time of diagnosis.
- Underwent clinical evaluation and multimodal imaging (including CT and/or MRI) at Aerospace Center Hospital between September 2023 and September 2026.
- Availability of complete medical records, including pain assessment scores (Visual Analog Scale \[VAS\] and/or Short-Form McGill Pain Questionnaire \[SF-MPQ\]).
- Availability of imaging data in DICOM or standard format suitable for post-processing analysis.
