Coronary Myocardial Bridge and Coronary Plaques on MDCT
The Prevalence of Coronary Myocardial Bridge on Multidetector Computed Tomography and Its Relation to Coronary Plaques
Source: ClinicalTrials.gov · Last updated 4 Nov 2026
Brief summary (registry, in English)
Myocardial bridging is a condition in which a segment of a coronary artery passes through the heart muscle instead of running on its surface. This study aims to determine the prevalence of coronary myocardial bridging and investigate its relationship with coronary atherosclerotic plaques using multidetector computed tomography coronary angiography (MDCT-CA). The study will include at least 50 patients referred for coronary CT angiography at Sohag University Hospital and New Sohag University Hospital. CT images will be evaluated to identify myocardial bridges, determine their location, measure their length and depth, and assess the presence, location, and characteristics of coronary atherosclerotic plaques. The findings will be analyzed to investigate the association between myocardial bridging and coronary atherosclerotic plaques.
